VMS VENTURES INC. TO FLY VTEM AIRBORNE SURVEY OVER COPPER-ZINC
TARGET AREAS NEAR SNOW LAKE VMS BELT, MANITOBA
Vancouver, B.C. January 24, 2007. VMS Ventures Inc. (TSX.V: VMS)
(the "Company") is pleased to announce that it has contracted Geotech Ltd. of
Aurora Ontario to use its high definition, deep penetrating airborne geophysical
VTEM technology to fly approximately 1800 line kilometers over the northern
portion of the Company’s 200 square kilometer VMS property package, near Snow
Lake, Manitoba.
The VTEM (Versatile Time-Domain Electromagnetic) survey is the leading airborne
geophysical system in use today. The survey will cover the portions of the claim
group, which exhibit surface or drill intercepts of massive sulphide
mineralization and alteration associated with these types of deposits and where
favorable host rock units have associated metal enrichment in soils indicating
the presence of buried deposits.
The VTEM survey has documented capabilities to detect highly conductive rock
bodies such as massive sulphides to depths of up to 800 meters (2500 feet),
which is ideal for the discovery of buried or hidden massive sulphide deposits
in the Snow Lake Mining Camp. VTEM identifies anomalies deeper than any other
method available to date. This technology will also enable a more effective
means to explore the southern portion of the Snow Lake Belt where Paleozoic aged
limestone sediments cover the prospective greenstone belts.
Over the past 2 years, the Company has acquired 12 distinct, strategic land
packages. Each has been selected based on the existence of either known VMS
style mineralization in drill core or at surface, the identification of VMS
associated alteration in host rocks, and/or the presence of stratigraphy that
hosts a VMS deposit on neighboring claims.
The areas to be flown in this first phase include the Sails Lake claims, the
Reed Lake claims and the Copper property. These are the most advanced
exploration targets with historical and Company data that includes ground
geochemistry and geophysical information. Vice President of Exploration, Dr.
George Gale states “The properties we plan to fly first have had up to 2 years
of exploration to compliment the historical programs on which we have been able
to accumulate information on. This upcoming survey will provide us with an
opportunity to evaluate the effectiveness of the VTEM system, especially in the
areas covered by limestone. The VTEM information is delivered in real time and
can be interpreted within days, allowing us to prioritize drill targets quickly
and test them this spring. Targets consisting of both geochemical metal
anomalies and strong geophysical signatures will be tested first.”
About VTEM
The VTEM system employs a large, somewhat tent-shaped array that hangs from the
underside of the helicopter, with a large outer loop at the bottom end. A
current is sent through this outer loop, which energizes the ground, creating a
secondary return EM field that is measured by the smaller, inner receiving loop
and recorded digitally for analysis.
Rolf Pedersen, a geophysicist and client relations specialist at Geotech Ltd.
says “airborne geophysical surveys are, right now, at the front end of mining
exploration and our VTEM system allows anomalies to be detected at depths of up
to 800 meters”.
About Geotech
Geotech has conducted airborne electromagnetic geophysical surveys for more than
two decades using their proprietary technology and has a long history of notable
innovations. In January of 2006, the Geotech VTEM system won Mining Magazine’s
exploration-equipment award for 2005. For more information on the Geotech
Airborne VTEM system, please visit their website at

VMS Ventures Inc. is acquiring, exploring and developing copper-zinc properties
in the Flin Flon-Snow Lake VMS Belt. The Company’s other projects include the
Lynn Lake Gabbros nickel-copper properties in Lynn Lake Nickel Belt, the South
Bay nickel-copper-cobalt PGE property, and the Eden Lake Carbonatite Complex,
Specialty Metals property. All properties are located in the mining friendly
province of Manitoba, Canada.
